2017 Groningen Airport Eelde goes Lynx

Updated: Jan 28, 2018

Last July two Danish Lynx Mk90B helicopters of Eskadrille 723 of the Danish Airforce made a last visit to the Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford, as they were scheduled for retirement at the end of 2017. The helicopters entered service in 1980 with the delivery of eight Mk80's to the Danish Navy, followed by two additional airframes MK90's between 1987-1988.

By February 2017 only four airframes remained active, with the first three deliveries of the newly acquired MH-90R Seahawks on May 11, 2016.

The Seahawks will formally take over operations from January 2018 and all nine helicopters will be delivered by mid 2018.

On their way up to the UK the two Lynxes made a short tankstop at Groningen Airport Eelde on July 6, including S-191 which received a striking scheme with a polar bear on the left side and a Lynx on the right side of the helicopter.
