2018 Exercise Falcon Autumn

Updated: Feb 23, 2020

From 24 September until 13 October the Defence Helicopter Command (DHC) of the Royal Netherlands Airforce and the 11 Air Mobility Brigade (AMB) of the Royal Netherlands Army practised in the large scale exercise Falcon Autumn. The 11 AMB and DHC are together integrated in the 11 Air Manoeuvre Brigade, which itself is incorporated within the German Division Schnelle Kräfte. The Germans were present in the Netherlands with troops, material and helicopters.

Over 2000 German and Dutch soldiers, supported by 4 CH-47D Chinooks, 6 AH-64D Apaches and 8 German NH-90 TTH, participated in the exercise and practised air assaults, personnel recovery, deep and counter attacks and electronic warfare scenarios at different training grounds over the middle and northeastern part of Holland. The whole exercise was coordinated from Deelen airbase near the city of Arnhem.

At the training ground De Haar near the city of Assen a Foward Arming and Refuelling Point (FARP) location was created for the support of the final mass attack at the training ground Marnewaard in the North of Holland. Northern Skies Aviation was able to visit both Deelen airbase and the FARP at De Haar for a photoreport.

Northern Skies Aviation would like to thank the MAOT team and the FARP commander for this great opportunity!
